Everyone knows that a
first experience with a jack-in-the-box can be quite startling, and
sometimes even frightening. The humor in the response of the
PIXQUIKS™ may make the viewer laugh at the memory of their
own first experience with this toy. This detailed sketch has not
yet been recreated as a painting, although it did inspire a spinoff
image called "Surprise!" This drawing was inspired by one of
Leonard's daughter's toys, although the "jack" and the box itself
are totally created from Leonard's imagination.
