These images are a part of a series of paintings by Leonard Filgate depicting circus/cabaret themed images and harlequins. It has been inspired by the color, costumes, theatrics, and moods created by such wonders as Cirque du Soleil, Teatro ZinZanni, Beach Blanket Babylon and other cabaret-style, circus inspired theater that is so popular today. Long fascinated by the imagery of the rather flamboyant, sometimes zany, sometimes contemplative characters created in all these new venues, he has focused mainly on creating larger than life imagery, although you will find a few that are more illustrative and child-like.
